Doris E. Silverstein; 95
FITCHBURG/WESTMINSTER -- Doris Enid (Rudolph) Silverstein, 95, recently of The Gables in Fitchburg, and 25 year resident of Westminster, died peacefully Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at home with her family at her bedside.
Doris leaves her longtime companion, Charles E. Page; her step-daughters, Deborah Page Wegener and her husband, Ralph and their sons, Derek and Kurt of Westminster; Judith A. Duclos of Ashburnham and her daughters, Kim Cloutier and Tracy Ashe. She also leaves her niece, June Macintosh, and her husband, Terry Broome of Wolfville, Nova Scotia; nephews, Frederick MacIntosh and wife, Jeannie of Avonport, Nova Scotia, and Blake MacIntosh; also of Avonport; as well as several grand nieces and nephews.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Louis Silverstein in 1982, and her younger sister, Violet Marie MacIntosh in 2013.
The daughter of Edward and Jennie (Lockhart) Rudolph, Doris was born in Halifax, N.S. She came to the United States in 1936 and moved to Westminster in 1988. She was employed as a secretary at the Raytheon Company for 20 years, and worked at the Riseberg Specialty Shop in Waltham for several years.
An avid dancer, Doris loved music and spending time with her many friends and relations from here and Nova Scotia. She enjoyed her beautiful garden, reading, and had a special gift for listening and empathy.
She will be missed dearly by those who love her and counted on her radiant smile and sunny disposition to make their day.
SILVERSTEIN -- Calling hours for Doris will be held on Saturday, November 23 beginning at 11:00 A.M followed by a funeral serviceat 12:30 P.M. in the Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St., Fitchburg. A short committal service will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Donations may be made to The Oncology Center at Burbank Hospital, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
