LEOMINSTER -- Edward W. Lakutis, 74, of Leominster, MA, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital .

He was born in Fitchburg, MA, on May 2, 1940, the son of Edward W. and Marie Irene (Duteau) Lakutis. He attended school in Fitchburg, MA. before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served during the Vietnam Era.

Ed worked as a tool & die maker and worked for Quamtum Corp. and the former Digital Equipment , retiring several years ago. He enjoyed working on and fixing lawnmowers for friends and neighbors. An avid auto racing enthusiast, Ed was a member of North County Street Rods and attended many Tie-Rod functions. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, and boating.

He is survived by his fiancée, Patricia Bishop of Leominster, MA; one step-son, Daniel J. Gulliver; one step-daughter Carrie Ann McLaughlin, one brother, Richard Lakutis, and his niece, Kristen Smith.

LAKUTIS -- A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 12 noon in The Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, MA with Pastor Dana Smith officiating. Military Honors will follow the service. There are no calling hours. Our web address is WWW.LCAFH.COM
