Elena J. (DiGloria) Panagiotes

Beloved mother, grandmother
and great-grandmother

LEOMINSTER -- Elena J. (DiGloria) Panagiotes 88, of Leominster died Monday November 5, 2012 in the Life Care Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Fitchburg, on July 6, 1924 to the late Phillip & Josephine (Aiesi) DiGloria. She attended Fitchburg High School and was a proud member of the graduating class of 1942.

Elena is survived by one daughter, Joan Syriopoulos of Fitchburg; two sons, Thomas Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Townsend and Paul of Leominster; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Duval of Leominster; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: Charles DiGloria, Connie DeFilice, Jennie Marrama, Connie Scipione and Lucy Salvatelli, as well as her husband, Thomas Sr. and daughter-in-law, Catherine in 2010.

Elena was most well known as the wife of "Mr. Tom", the owner of Mr. Tom's Pizza for 29 years in Ayer and Winchendon. She was also a wonderful cook and homemaker. Elena loved to create especially with material and yarn. She made curtains and crocheted many blankets for family and friends. In her younger years, she was a member of bowling leagues in the Leominster area. She and Tom loved to go out dancing on a Saturday night or for an evening car ride to visit family. They loved to travel and visited many exotic places including South America and Hawaii. They would also spend time at their beach house in York, Maine. She enjoyed caring for her home and family who always came first in her life. Her most cherished times were holiday dinners around the large dining room table with each family member sharing a story.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Summit Elder Care, especially Dr. Elkerm, and the Life Care Center in Leominster for their compassionate care and support.

PANAGIOTES -- The Funeral will be held from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water Street, Fitchburg, MA, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at St. Anthony de Padua Church, 84 Salem Street, Fitchburg, MA. She will be buried with her husband Tom in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 2:00 -- 4:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
