FITCHBURG -- Ethel (Contaxes) Stepton, 59, of Fitchburg, MA, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, May 27, 2014, in UMass Memorial Healthcare in Worcester, MA.

She was born in Fitchburg, December 10, 1954, the daughter of the late Jack and Ruth (Tienhaara) Contaxes. She lived in Fitchburg, MA all her life.

Ethel was a very kind person and loved having a good time with family and friends. Ethel worked as a fundraiser for local charities. She also worked at many local restaurants as a waitress for many years, and also worked many years at Nashoba Hospital in Ayer, MA.

Ethel leaves behind her daughter, Megan Stepton; her granddaughter, Aubrey Sumner; her sisters, Mary Contaxes Sparks and her husband, Thomas Sparks, and Tina Ramsdell and her husband, Gary Ramsdell; her brother, James Contaxes; nephews, Christopher Day, Adam Day, T.J. Sparks and her niece, Lauren Sparks. Ethel also leaves her special friend for over 40 years, Lenny LeBlanc, he was wonderful to her. Ethel has many aunts, uncles and several cousins who meant the world to her. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her sister, Jacqueline "Jackie" Contaxes in 2013.

STEPTON -- Services for Ethel will be private at the request of her family. There are no calling hours. In memory of Ethel, donations may be made to The Ruth Contaxes Scholarship Fund at the Goodrich Academy School, 111 Goodrich St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
