LAKEWORTH, FL -- Gary A. Hill, 67, of Lakeworth, FL, formerly of Leominster, died March 24, 2013 in the J.F.K. Medical Center in Atlantis, FL, after a brief illness.
Gary was born in Leominster, MA on March 5, 1946, a son of the late Gordon and Anne (Kubiac) Hill, and had lived in Leominster for most of his life before moving to FL in 2003.
He was a 1965 graduate of Leominster High School where he founding member of the Leominster High School Ski Team. Following his graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force
and served during the Vietnam War
Following his discharge from the service, Gary worked as a carpet installer for several years, and later drove truck until his retirement.
He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion, and was a military historian who was very knowledgeable about several different Wars and Conflicts. He was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed skiing, golf and fishing. Gary loved the ocean and would summer in York Beach, ME with his entire family.
He leaves his son, Rick Hill of Lunenburg; three grandchildren, Mackenzie Hastings, Kylie Hill and Adam Hill, all of Lunenburg; a brother, Daniel Hill of Leominster; and several nephews and nieces.
He is predeceased by brother, Thomas Hill.
HILL -- Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 12, from 5 to 7 PM in the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg. Everyone is invited to a memorial gathering which will take place following the calling hours on Friday evening at the Harley House/Turkey Hill Tavern, 909 Massachusetts Ave., Lunenburg. Burial will be held privately in the St. Leo's Cemetery in Leominster.
