FITCHBURG -- George G. Barbin, 89 years old of Fitchburg, died Sunday March 2, 2014 after an illness.

He was born October 13, 1924 in Lawrence, MA the son of Simeon and Marilda (Lafond) Barbin. He leaves his longtime companion Betty Callahan of Leominster; two sons, Gregory Barbin and his wife Brenda of Lunenburg and Gary Barbin of Worcester; daughter Linda Mims and her husband John of Leominster; brother Roger Barbin of Methuen; two sisters, Pauline Foley of Barefoot Bay, FL and Elaine Chamberlain of Sebastian, FL; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Norman and Robert Barbin and a sister, Lillian Barbin.

George was Vice President of Finance at Merchants Bank in Leominster for many years. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II serving in the Signal Corps. He was a member of the Elks and enjoyed playing golf and cards.

BARBIN -- A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:30 am in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 am-11:30 am on Friday morning prior to the funeral service. Burial will be private in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover. www.richardsonfuneralhome.net
