Gertrude E. (Doherty) Pochini; 88
FITCHBURG -- Gertrude E. (Doherty) Pochini, 88, a resident of Fitchburg for many years, died Wednesday, March 26, in her daughter's home in Ozark, MO, after a brief illness.
Her husband of 43 years, Nilo P. Pochini, died in 1991.
She leaves three daughters, Linda L. Jones, and her husband, Robert, of Ozark, MO, with whom she lived, Judith A. Aho, and her husband, Brian of Ashburnham and Joyce A. DeCarolis, and her husband, James of Leominster; eight grandchildren, Robert Jones, Jason Leger, Jessica Pelletier, Kirsten Aho, Amanda Aho, Gabrielle Crowley, and her husband, Christopher, and Jacob and Samuel DeCarolis; two great-grandchildren, Maya and Chase Pelletier; and several nieces and nephews; and her grandparrot, Calypso.
She was predeceased by a son, James P. Pochini in 1979, a daughter, Janice A. Leger in 1997, and by two grandchildren, Jillian Olmstrom and Gregory J. Aho, also her five brothers, Philip, Robert, Michael, Charles and Edward Doherty, and a sister, Charlotte Ouellette.
Mrs. Pochini was employed at the former Kings Department Store in Fitchburg for many years.
She was a member of St. Anthony di Padua Parish in Fitchburg. She was an amazing cook and showed her love for people by cooking for them. She also enjoyed hosting holiday parties, and was known by all as the glue that kept the family together throughout the years.
She was born in Fitchburg, on June 14, 1925, a daughter of the late Edward and Marie Louise (Maxfield) Doherty.
POCHINI -- Her Funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 2, with a Service at 11 a.m. in the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg. Rev. Brian Aho, Gertrude's
son-in-law will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg. A calling hour will be held at the Funeral Home are on Wednesday, April 2, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a
