Grace L. Sullivan

FITCHBURG -- Grace L. (Withington) Sullivan, 84, formerly of the Joseph House, died Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the Highlands, after an illness.
She was born July 23, 1928, in Fitchburg, daughter of the late John and Grace (Miller) Withington. She attended Fitchburg High School.
Mrs. Sullivan worked many years at the former Sullivan's Donut Shop in Fitchburg, Holyoke, and Hampton. She later worked for the Montachusett Opportunity Council for five years before her retirement. She was also an ombudsman for several area nursing homes.
Mrs. Sullivan was an Associate Sister of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary for over 10 years. She was also a member of Saint Joseph Parish, the Daughters of Isabella, the Castle Club of the Joseph House, the Holy Family League of Charity, and the Booster Club.
Her husband, Bernard F. Sullivan died in 1988. She was also predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Griffin and Dorothy Conlin, and her four brothers, George, Wesley, Paul and John Withington.
She leaves her son, Bernard F. Sullivan and his wife, Patricia of Westminster; her daughter, Judith G. Pontiff and her husband, Junius C. of Hudson, FL; four grandchildren, Bryana Sullivan and Colin Sullivan, both of Westminster, Adam Selvidge and his fiancée, Tarha Sondesky of Tallahassee, FL, and Dawn Selvidge and her fiancé, Daniel Hall of Miami, FL; several nieces and nephews.
SULLIVAN -- The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 23, from Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, January 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Retirement Fund, 99 Church St., Leominster, MA 01453.
