FITCHBURG -- Henry A. Burnham Jr., 89, a resident of Fitchburg since 1963, died Wednesday, March 26, in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital, after a long illness.
He leaves one niece, Beverly Maeder in Switzerland. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Burnham.
Mr. Burnham was President and CEO of the Fitchburg Federal Saving Bank, now known as Family Federal Savings, from 1963 until his retirement in 1989.
Henry was a very active member of The Fitchburg Rotary Club
for many years and served as a past President. He was an active Mason and loved his many dogs that he had through the years.
Mr. Burham was a 1942 graduate of Boston English High School and received a Degree in Business Administration from Boston University.
He was a Veteran of World War II
, U.S. Army
, serving in the Combat Engineers as a mine sweeper and participated in the Normandy Invasion. He later was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Massachusetts National Guard, and was reactivated during the Korean Conflict
and served with the 3rd Infantry Division.
Henry was born in Boston, MA, on March 26, 1925, a son of the late Henry A., and Marion (Gray) Burnham Sr.
BURNHAM -- At Henry's request, Funeral Services and Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Gloucester, MA will be private.
