PROVINCETOWN -- Hugh Parkhurst, 76, of Provincetown, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Seashore Point.

He was the son of Boardman and Florence Parkhurst.

Formerly from Fitchburg, Hugh was a graduate of Fitchburg High School. In his teens and early 20's, he was an accomplished and award-winning rollerskater.

He worked as a bookkeeper for several years prior to moving to Provincetown in the mid-1970's. In 1976, he purchased 6 Dyer St. and converted the building into a guesthouse of the same name, which he operated for many years. He also worked at Four Bays Guest House, and later was the resident property manager for Gregg Russo at 168 Commercial Street.

He was a passionate bingo player and hardly ever missed a game. His daily routine included a long walk each day throughout the West End. For the past seven years, he lived at Seashore Point, where he received remarkable care and support.

He is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Brackett of Fitzwilliam, N.H., Beverly Forney of Deltona, FL; and his longtime friend and guardian, Alan Wagg of Provincetown. He was predeceased by his brothers, Boardman and Robert, and his sister, Margaret.

A grave side service will be held on June 20 at 10 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery.
