Jean M. Darcy; 86
FITCHBURG -- Jean M. (MacDonald) Darcy, 86, a Fitchburg resident for 72 years, died peacefully, Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the Highlands Long Term Care Center, with her loving family by her bedside.
Her husband of 49 years, Richard M. Darcy Sr., died in 1994.
She leaves one son, Richard M. Darcy Jr., and his wife, Dorothy, of N. Kingston, RI; four daughters, Bonnie Darcy Waldman, and her husband, Byron, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Pamela Fiorentino, and her husband, Michael, of Lock Haven, PA, Jo-Ellen Darcy, of District of Columbia, Washington, and Margaret Darcy, of Washington, MA; four grandchildren, Connor, Liam and Sarah Darcy and Darcy Waldman; a brother-in-law, Edwin Lord of Hanover, NH; two nieces, Amy Lord-Goetz and Sarah Lord; and a step niece, Jayne Severns.
She was predeceased by a sister, Shirley (MacDonald) Lord.
Mrs. Darcy was a Census Taker for the Federal Government for 20 years.
She was a 1944 graduate of Fitchburg High School. She loved animals, playing cards with her high school friends and of course, Cape Cod. She will be remembered for her kindness, out going personality and her sparkling spirit.
She was born in White Plains, NY, on February 23, 1926, a daughter of the late Alexander and Margaret (Hill) MacDonald.
DARCY -- Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg. Rev. Mary Ann Barry will be the Celebrant. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours at the Funeral Home will be on Saturday, Jan. 12, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, P.O.
