FITCHBURG -- John C. Carbone, 77, of Fitchburg, formerly of Westminster, died in his home on Monday evening, Oct. 1.
He was born in Fitchburg on March 3, 1935, a son of the late Nunzio J. and Leola M. (Schofield) Carbone.
John was a supervisor for the Grainger Construction Company in Worcester for over thirty years. During his time there he was involved in the construction of most of the colleges and hospitals in the Worcester area until his retirement in 1991.
John loved going on long trips through Vermont and the seacoast of Maine and having picnics along the way. He also enjoyed occasional trips to Foxwoods and playing the lottery.
He leaves his two daughters, Cathy A. Sarasin of Fitchburg and Lisa A. Cushman and her husband Ernie of Woodruff, SC; two sons, Steven J. Carbone and his wife Debra of Westminster and Gary C. Carbone and his wife Allyson of Templeton; a sister, Betty Schofield of Fitchburg; a sister-in-law, with whom he lived, Yvette M. Fortunato of Fitchburg; seven grandchildren, Adam Cushman, Bradley Sarasin, Jessica Sarasin, Bryan Carbone, Hannah Carbone, Isabelle Carbone and Erin Haley and several nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his wife Doris R. (Leger) Carbone who died in 1991 and a brother, Roger N. Carbone who died in 2010.
CARBONE -- At his request funeral services will be held privately. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in the Woodside Cemetery in Westminster. The Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
