BARRE -- John F. Marble, Sr., 64, formerly of Lancaster, died on Monday, September 16, 2013 after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Bambi (Blanchflower) Marble; their three children; Liza Fitzgerald of Barre; John F. Marble, Jr. of Gardner; Elizabeth Marble of Clinton. He leaves his siblings, Mark Marble, Frank Marble, both of Athol; Mary Tervo of Clinton; Martha Moore of Lancaster; Margaret Marble of Leominster; three grandchildren, Violet, Joan, and Vivian, several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. He is predeceased by two siblings, Catherine & Stephen Marble.

John was born in Fitchburg to the late John & Catherine (Dineen) Marble. He was raised in Lancaster and graduated from the Nashoba Regional High School Class of 1967. He proudly served our nation in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Awards. John returned home and began his lifelong career as a heavy equipment operator for P.J. Keating, from where he was employed for more than 45 years before ultimately retiring in 2009. He proudly held membership with I.U.O.E. Local 4. He took pleasure in fishing from his boat on the ocean and enjoyed live music. John most cherished time spent in the company of his loving family and will be dearly missed as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

MARBLE -- A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11AM at First Church of Christ Unitarian, 725 Main St., Lancaster, MA 01523. Burial will later be held privately in Eastwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 5 until 7PM on Friday, September 20, 2013 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton.
