U.S. Air Force Veteran
WESTMINSTER -- Jon R. Bliss, 66, died January 7, 2013, at HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, after an illness.
He leaves his Mother, Lois (Gates) Bliss, of Westminster, his Father and step mother, Robert and Susan Bliss, of Wentworth, NH; one brother, Donald M. Bliss; and one sister, Donna Iriana, and her husband Robert, all of Arkansas.
He is predeceased by a brother Robert C. Bliss who died in 1977.
Jon was born in Fitchburg on November 7, 1946, and has lived in Westminster since 1953. He was a 1965 graduate of Oakmont Regional High School. Jon served in the US Air Force during Vietnam, from 1966 -- 1970.
He was a self employed General Contractor. Jon was a member, and a past commander of, the American Legion Post 129, in Gardner, a member of the Rice Meadow Fly Fishing Club, the Westminster Sportsman's Club, and the Voiture #300, #40 and #8. Jon also served the Town of Westminster as the Tree Warden and as Dog Officer for several years.
BLISS -- At Jon's request, Funeral Services and Burial will be private. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jon's name to the Westminster Rescue Fund, 7 South Street, Westminster, MA 01473.
