WINCHENDON -- Kathy L. (Leger) Bitter, 43, of Winchendon, passed away peacefully Friday evening in the Rose Monahan Hospice House, Worcester, after an illness.
Kathy was born in Fitchburg March 16, 1969, a daughter of George and Claire J. (Bourgeois) Leger, and has lived in Winchendon for 20 years. She married her beloved husband Robert L. Bitter II on October 6, 1991 and together they shared over 21 years of marriage.
Kathy attended Fitchburg Schools and earned a Bachelors Degree From Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester. Prior to her illness Kathy worked as a Para Professional Teacher for the Town of Westminster Elementary School. She enjoyed trips to Cape Cod with her husband and family. Kathy loved the ocean and spending time at the beach. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers. Family was most important to Kathy. She cherished every moment she spent with her children.
Besides her parents and husband, Kathy will be sadly missed by her two children; Chelsea E. Bitter and Jeremy J. Bitter both of Winchendon, 2 sisters; Susan Leger of Maui, HI, and Donna Garay of Ecuador, her mother in-law Eileen Bitter of Leominster, father-in-law Robert L. Bitter I of Clinton, two sisters-in-law, Karin Bitter and Cheryl Bitter both of Clinton,and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
BITTER -- Relatives and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Kathy's life by gathering for calling hours in the Community Chapel of Lamoureux Fletcher and Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner, on Thursday November 1, 2012 from 5-8PM. Her funeral will be held Friday November 2, 2012 from the funeral home at 9AM, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Denis Church, 85 Main St., Ashburnham beginning at 10AM. Rev. John E. Horgan will officiate. Burial will follow in New Cemetery, Old Nims Rd., Ashburnham. Should friends desire, donations in Kathy's memory may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice House, 10 Judith Rd., Worcester, MA 01602.
