Martin A. Spacciapoli

LEOMINSTER -- Martin A. Spacciapoli, 92, of Leominster, died Sunday, September 29, 2013 in Leominster Hospital, after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theresa M. (Carbonneau) Spacciapoli; a daughter, Linda Nolan and her husband, Robert, of Lancaster; a grandson, Michael Nolan; a brother, Peter Spacciapoli and his wife, Frances, of Leominster; a sister, Viola Pallozzi and her husband, Harold, of Paterson, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Domenic and Americo, and four sisters, Frances DiGisi, Corrine "Kate" Lanza, Clorinda "Clara" Bunnell, and Grace Sillanpoa, and some nieces and nephews, predeceased him.
Marty was born in Leominster on June 19, 1921, son of Pierto and Germania (Piccolomini) Spacciapoli, and was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Leominster High School, and proudly served with the US Army
For 45 years, he worked at Foster Grant Co., Leominster, and later, for five years at Euro America, before his retirement.
Marty was a member of Foster Grant's "25 Year Club," a lifetime member of the Leominster Lodge of Elks, where he served as Exalted Ruler and performed in the choral group. In addition, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
, Knights of Columbus, Italian American Club, Foggia Hall, and the Leominster Senior Citizens Center.
He was a founding member of St. Anna's Parish, where he served as an usher for many years, and an Eagle Scout, having earned 27 merit badges, of which he was most proud. His many hobbies included playing poker, golf, bocce, and sitting with friends at the Searstown Mall. Marty enjoyed his summers in the waters off of Cape Cod, fishing, clamming, and boating with his friends and family. His most cherished moments were those spent with his grandson, Michael, whom he truly adored. His kind, loving and generous heart will be greatly missed.
SPACCIAPOLI -- Marty's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anna's Parish, 199 Lancaster St., Leominster. Burial will be private.
