FITCHBURG, MA -- Myrtle Schlott McGregor, a longtime resident of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, passed away Friday March 22, 2013 at the age of 94 in Winchester, Virginia.

Mrs. McGregor, the daughter of the late Otto Schlott and Anne Fischer Schlott, was born in Fitchburg and lived there for over 80 years. She graduated from Fitchburg High School and worked as a secretary for the General Mills Company in Fitchburg. She was an active participant in the community, serving for many years as a Rotary-Ann and a member of the Burbank Hospital Guild. Her love of nature, flowers and gardening was fulfilled through her membership in the Fitchburg Garden Club. She enjoyed art, music, poetry and books, participating as a member of the Fitchburg Art Museum, and a member of Friends of the Fitchburg Public Library, also joining with friends in book clubs to explore literature and enjoy reading. She mentored young women through her participation in Girl Scout troop activities. She was a lifelong member of Faith United Parrish Church and its predecessor the Calvinistic Congregational Church, serving as President of the AAI Group and also serving on numerous committees to address the needs of the church.

More recently, in 2000 she moved with her husband to the Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury Retirement Community in Winchester, Virginia to be near her daughter and son-in-law, where she resided at the time of her passing.

She is survived by a daughter Dr. Bonnie McGregor Stubblefield and son-in-law, Admiral William L. Stubblefield of Martinsburg, West Virginia. In addition to her parents and her sister, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Douglas Allen McGregor.
