FITCHBURG -- Normand J. Legendre 86, of Fitchburg, MA. passed away Sunday December 29, 2013 in Golden living Center.

He was born on March 2,1927 in Fitchburg, the son of Ernest and Aldea (Chouinard) Legendre and lived in Fitchburg all of his life. He attended school in Fitchburg and then enlisted in the Coast Guard, served during WW2 and was honorably discharged in 1946.

Normand went on to work as a mold maker and worked for Standard Tool, Central Tool, Leominster Tool and Allied Tool. He retired in 1989 after thirty years in the industry.

Normand enjoyed going fishing, woodworking at home, and performing home home repairs. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a man of many quotes.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Lecuyer) Legendre, his son David Legendre and wife Carol of East Harwich, MA., his daughter Denise and her companion Leon Girouard of Fitchburg, MA., his grandchildren, Nicole Kirrane, Michele Ware, Steven and Peter Legendre, eight great-grandchildren, his sister Gladys Legendre of Leominster, MA. and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother Fernand and his sister Beatrice Legendre. His family would like to extend their thanks to Beacon Hospice and to Golden Living Center for their compassionate care during this time.

LEGENDRE -- There are no planned funeral services or calling hours at his request. Burial will be in Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery- Winchendon, MA. at a later date.
