Paul A. Leger

FITCHBURG -- Paul A. Leger, 84, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2014, in the Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Worcester surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on October 9, 1929, a son of the late Joseph A. and Phyllis (Duguay) Leger. He enlisted in the United States army
and proudly served his country during the Korean War
. Until his retirement, Paul worked for the City of Fitchburg as an Assistant Registrar for the Water Department.
He was a member of the American Legion, Retired Men's Club and the Retired Municipal Workers. Paul, along with his wife, was very active in the St. Joseph's Church Fairs and the PTA. He was also involved with the Sons of Italy. In his spare time he loved to read, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He leaves his sons, Bruce P. Leger and his partner Frank Madrid of Worcester, Kevin F. Leger of Fl; daughters, Sheryl Heon of Fitchburg, Dawn Grossi of Fitchburg; grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Nora, Nathan, Joseph, Claire, Becky, Stephanie, Michael, Brett, and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Caleb Bergeron, Wyatt Stowell, Addilynn May Fox, and Jaxon Blade Nichols; a son-in-law, Paul Nichols of Ohio; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Assunta "Susie" Leger in 2012, and his sisters, Loretta Lessard and Lillian Cochlin.
The family would like to extend a most sincere thanks to all of Paul's caregivers.
LEGER -- The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Friday, February 14, 2014 with a Mass in Saint Joseph Church, 49 Woodland St., at 11 AM. Burial will be private at a later date in the Mass Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 5-8 in the funeral home.
Due to the impending storm the Leger family would like to extend the calling hours to Friday morning, Feb. 14, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM prior to funeral Mass at 11 AM in Saint Joseph Church, 49 Woodland St.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to any Veteran's Organization or Charity.
