FITCHBURG -- Paul J. Cormier, Jr., 83, of Fitchburg, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, in the Leominster Hospital.
He was born in Fitchburg, Oct. 10, 1929, the son of the late Paul and Arzelie (LeBlanc) Cormier. Paul graduated from Fitchburg High School. Paul was married to Catherine (Fresina) on May 30, 1954.
He served in the U.S. Navy
for nine years during the Korean War
He spent his working career as a postman at the Leominster Post Office.
Paul enjoyed golf, skiing, reading, and playing the piano. Paul also played hockey for many years in the Fitchburg Old Timer's League.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Catherine Cormier of Fitchburg; four children, Alice Cosgrove and her husband, Donald of Leominster, Kenneth Cormier and his wife, Debra Tollas of Somerville, Thomas Cormier and his wife, Marli Woods of Leominster, and Christine Pontbriand and her husband, Andrew of Gardner; five grandchildren, Stefanie and Erik Cosgrove, Devon Cormier, and Andrew and Brittany Pontbriand.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Lumina Moilinen, Florence Tousignant, Nora Moretto, Doris Cormier, Geneva Saucier, and brothers, Ovila and Oral Cormier.
CORMIER -- His funeral will be held on Monday, Dec. 31, at 1 PM in the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon.
