FITCHBURG -- Raymond A. Dupuis, 87, formerly of Huron Street, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Health Alliance Leominster Hospital.
Mr. Dupuis was born in Fitchburg, Februrary 9, 1927, a son of Leandre and Rita (Landry) Dupuis and resided most of his life in Fitchburg. He was a 1944 graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School in Fitchburg and continued his education at Worcester Junior College and Clark University.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Anna (Quarella) Dupuis; a daughter, Joanna R. Leclerc and her husband, Gerry, of New Salem; two sons, Leonard Dupuis and his wife, Theresa, of Mechanicsville, VA, David Dupuis of Bluffton, SC; three sisters, Theresa Glenny of Lunenburg, Irene Godin and Cecile Yovino both of Fitchburg. He also leaves seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
For over 50 years, Mr. Dupuis worked at the former Anwelt Shoe Company in Fitchburg retiring as Vice President of Manufacturing in 1994.
An active member of St. Joseph's Church in Fitchburg, Mr. Dupuis served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister and as president of its Confraternity of Christian Doctrine program. He was instrumental in the formation of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Joseph's Church.
He served as a corporator of the former Worcester North Savings Bank and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Cleghorn Economic Development Corporation. He was a former board member of the United Way of Central Massachusetts, Catholic Social Services and the Fitchburg Council On Aging. He was a member of the Fitchburg Booster Club, Retired Men's Club of Fitchburg as well as a Friend of the Fitchburg Senior Citizens and was an active member of the Johnny Appleseed Chorus.
DUPUIS -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, April 11th at St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland Street, Fitchburg. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
