ASHBY -- Richard J. Lielasus, 68, formerly of County Road, died November 9, 2013, at Bay Medical Center, Panama City, Florida.

Richard Lielasus was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, July 31, 1945, he was one of seven children born to John M. and Helen L. (Merkel) Lielasus and resided in Townsend before moving to Ashby.

During the Vietnam War he served his country for four years in the United States Navy. For many years he owned and operated the Richard J. Lielasus Plumbing and Heating Company and served for some time as Ashby's plumbing inspector.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing in his local mens softball league and coaching baseball in the Ashby Babe Ruth program. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 375 in Southport, FL.

Richard Lielasus' life was tragically taken from his family and friends. Richard leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark R. and Darlene Lielasus, Craig D. and Dawn Lielasus, five granddaughters; Jessica Lielasus, Shelley Lielasus, Tiana Lielasus, Taryn Lielasus and Toria Lielasus and his former wife, Carol (Bennett) Lielasus, all of Ashby. He also leaves two brothers, Phillip Lielasus of Florida and George Lielasus of England; two sisters, Ellie Murphy of Florida and Pauline Ghilardi of Leominster. Richard was predeceased by his son Ryan Lielasus in 1986, by his brother John Lielasus of California and his sister Patricia Makita of Templeton.

LIELASUS -- Mr. Lielasus' family will receive family and friends from 5 to 8 PM Friday, December 6th at the T. J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main Street,(Rte 119) Townsend Center. Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information.

A graveside service will be held 11AM Saturday, December 7th at Glenwood Cemetery, Ashby.
