FITCHBURG -- Robert G. Raboin 83, of Fitchburg, MA. passed away peacefully Sunday March 29, 2014 in The Highlands surrounded by his entire family.
He was born in Fitchburg MA. on February 22, 1931, the son of Hector and Georgianna (Vacha) Raboin and he lived in Fitchburg all of his life.
Robert attended and graduated from St. Bernard's High School Class of 1949 and continued his education attending and graduating from Wentworth Institute in 1951. He became a Senior Design Engineer. He worked for the former General Electric Co. in Fitchburg, MA. for 30 years before his retirement. He then went on to achieve his certificate for teaching and taught at Worcester Tech Institute for ten years retiring in 1992. Robert was active in local politics, and served as chairman on the Monty Tech School Committee from 1975 until 1980. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Center in Fitchburg, MA., and the Retired Men's club also in Fitchburg, MA., and a former member of the Joseph P. Keating Knights of Columbus Council #99 and was a 4th Degree Knight and former Grand Knight.
He is survived by his wife Ruth A. (LaFortune) Raboin, his children, Deborah Freda and her husband Donald, James Raboin, Bruce Raboin, Mark Raboin and his wife MaryAnn, and Victoria Morand and her husband John, his grandchildren Robert Raboin and wife Lauren, Joshua Raboin and wife Adhley, Douglas Morand and fiancé Lynne Bartinelli, Leslie Duval and husband John, Alyssa Freda, Vanessa Raboin, Deidre Raboin, and Kayla Valila and husband Michael, great-grandchildren, Genevieve and Hunter Raboin, Hannah and Sarah Duval and Lillian Valila and several nephews and nieces. He also leaves his brother Francis Raboin and sister Rachel DiGeromino. He was predeceased by brothers Norman and Ronald and a daughter-in-law Penny (Dupuis) Raboin.
His family would like to thank the entire staff at the Highlands Life Care Center second and fourth floors for their compassionate care.
RABOIN -- A funeral Mass will be held on Friday April 4, 2014 at 10a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Sheridan St., Fitchburg, Inurnment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery Fitchburg, MA. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to
