Ronald H. Cordio Sr., 72
FITCHBURG -- Ronald H. Cordio Sr., 72, a lifetime resident of Fitchburg, died Sunday, Feb. 23, in his home surrounded by his loving family, after a year long battle with lung cancer.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Rosemary (LaValley) Cordio; two sons, Bruce A. Cordio and Chad C. Cordio, both of Fitchburg; one daughter, Laura L. Fletcher, and her husband, Gilbert of Leominster; one brother, Richard Reynolds, and his wife, Sheila of Fitchburg; four sisters, Antoinette Watson of Fitchburg, Ramona Henrie, and her husband Walter in New Jersey, Elaine Perez, and her husband, Angel of Fitchburg, and Bessie Deshiro, and her husband, Wayne of Leominster; his stepmother, Mary King of Fitchburg; 8 grandchildren, Leah Fletcher and Sarah, Jeffrey, Olivia, Tyler, Hope, Giovanni and Nicholas Cordio; one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great--nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Ronald H. Cordio Jr. and by four brothers, Donald, John, Larry and David Reynolds and one sister, Nancy Cordio.
Ron was a Taxi driver for City Cab for 53 years, retiring a year ago due to illness. He previously had worked at the former ESP Lock Co. in Fitchburg as a Locksmith for several years.
He enjoyed fishing and cribbage.
He was born in Fitchburg, on July 17, 1941 a son of the late Anthony and Cecile (Hebert) Cordio-Reynolds.
CORDIO -- Ron's Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. in the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg. Pastor George Small of Horizon Christian Fellowship will Officiate.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster.
