LANCASTER -- Rosendo Bacener-Quinones, 95, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 in Leominster Hospital.
Rosendo was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on January 31, 1918, a son of the late Manuel and Ramona (Quinones) Bacener. His career was as a Sergeant in the United States Army and for over 20 years he worked as a Motor Pool Mechanic. Rosendo was proudly serving his country through World War II
, Korea, and Vietnam. After his discharge from the service, he worked for the Sears Roebuck Company as a Motor Mechanic for 5 years until his retirement.
Rosendo loved fishing and visiting both Horse and Dog Tracks, especially Suffolk Downs. He loved to travel back and forth to Puerto Rico, visiting family and vacationing. He was a very loving man, whose family was his life.
He leaves his children, Dora Saari of Lancaster, Maria Sanders and husband Terri of Arkansas, Edward Bacener and wife Christine of Southbridge, and Daisy Bacener of Lunenburg, former daughter-in-law, Cynthia Bacener; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, both of Puerto Rico; nieces and nephews.
Rosendo was predeceased by his wife Gloria (Marrero) Bacener in August, 2011, and one brother and sister.
BACENER-QUINONES -- The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on March 28, 2013 with a Liturgy of the Word in St. Anthony Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 27, from 5-7 PM.
