Urho Walter Aunio

Member of Our Savior Lutheran Church

LEOMINSTER -- Urho Walter Aunio, 66, died Monday, October 29, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after an illness.

He leaves his two daughters Senja Mann and her husband Jason of Franklin, Ohio, and Kaarina Hammack of Lee, three grandchildren Micah, Laura and Heidi all of Ohio, three brothers Rainer J. Aunio of FL, Vesa Aunio of Leominster, and Kauko H. Aunio of NH, one sister, Helena Rosengren of Centerville, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Helmer Aunio.

Urho was born in Ylistaro, Finland on June 25, 1946 a son of the late Jon and Lempi (Kujala) Aunio. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, from November 21, 1966 to August 25, 1969, where he was a small arms repairman. Urho was a Fitchburg High Graduate and also received his Mechanical Engineering Degree from Mt. Wachusett Community College in 1971. He worked for Simplex Time Recorder for 30 years as a Lab Supervisor. He enjoyed cross country skiing, biking and enjoyed traveling. He was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Westminster.

AUNIO -- Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. in Our Savior Lutheran Church, 17 Marshall Hill Road, Westminster, MA 01473.

Burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery, 115 Mt. Elam Road, Fitchburg, MA 01420.

A calling hour will be held in the Church from 12 Noon till 1:00 P.M. prior to the Funeral.

The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Family Funeral Homes, 123 Main Street, Westminster, MA 01473 is assisting the family with Arrangements.
