FITCHBURG, MA -- Vera Evelyn Pera passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Keystone Center in Leominster, MA.

Born in Fitchburg, MA on January 18, 1938. She lived in New Ipswich, NH most of her life. Most recently, she lived at the Sundial Center in Fitchburg, MA.

Vera was a graduate of Appleton Academy where she was active in basketball. Vera raised a family, became a town clerk and Tax Collector, and ran a successful real estate business for many years.

She loved to read, write, knit, volunteer, and stay active, including completing several college courses.

Vera is survived by her brother, Richard Pera of CA; daughters, Cynthia Lussier (Richard) of New Ipswich, NH; Wendy Stacy (G. Frank Knapp) of Florida; her sons, Matthew Stacy (Bernice) of Amherst, NH, Michael Stacy of Nashua, NH; her grandchildren, Ricky and Brandon Lussier, Joe and Paul Stacy, Jared and AJ Downey; and her grand dog, Rex Stacy.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at the First Parish Church Unitarian Universalist, 923 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA. A memorial reception will follow at the Sundial Center, 29 Merriam Parkway, in Fitchburg. If you so choose, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the .
