FITCHBURG -- Wendy Jane Whitman, 59, daughter of the late Ralph K. Peterson and late Doris E. Osborn, passed away at her home in Fitchburg on December 12, 2012.

Wendy was born in Concord, MA, June 15, 1953, and grew up in Acton. She was a gifted athlete in high school and also at Plymouth State College where she was invited to join the Women's National Field Hockey team.

Wendy worked as a coach and referee after college before settling into her career as a real estate assessor.

Wendy was an artist and a photographer who excelled at crafts. She had an eye for beauty in nature as well, watching birds and wildlife and working in her extensive gardens.

Wendy leaves her sister, Laurie Andrews and brother-in-law, Peter Andrews of Pepperell; as well as her beloved nieces, Stephanie Andrews of Weston, Brooke Andrews of Nashua, NH, and Rebecca Andrews of Pepperell. She is also survived by her former husband, Ken Whitman.

WHITMAN -- Donations in Wendy's name may be made to the Nashua Humane Society, 24 Ferry Rd., Nashua, N.H. 03064. A memorial service for Wendy will take place at Pepperell Christian Fellowship, 17 Main Street, Pepperell, MA, January 6, 2013 at 2 PM.
