LEOMINSTER -- David J. Arsenault, 78, of 126 Fourth St., died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 12, in Birchwood Care Center, Fitchburg, after an illness.
He was born Nov. 2, 1924, in St. Paul New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Hector and Obeline (Caisse) Arsenault and came to the United States many years ago.
Mr. Arsenault was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Leominster and the Secular Franciscan Order of St. Bernard Fraternity.
He served in the Canadian Army in the Security Corps.
He was employed for 28 years as an extruder for the former Foster Grant Co. in Leominster, where he was a member of the Foster Grant Co. (25) Year Club.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Jeanne (Cormier) Arsenault of Leominster; four sons, Jean Paul Arsenault of Leominster, Ralph Arsenault of Winchendon, Gerard Arsenault of Westminster, and David J. Arsenault Jr. of Ashburnam; one daughter, Cecile Enwright of Plano, Texas; three brothers, Francis Arsenault of Leominster, Roger Arsenault of St. Paul New Brunswick, Canada and Henry Arsenault of Montreal, Canada; two sisters, Adeline Fleury and Dorine Gagnon, both of Montreal, Canada; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Cecile Marie Arsenault, of Montreal, Canada, died in 1958; two brothers, Alcime and Alfred Arsenault also predeceased him.
ARSENAULT -- On Nov. 12, David J. Arsenault, 78, of Leominster. The funeral will be held on Friday, Nov. 15, from the M.A. Simard and Son Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster with a 10 a.m. Mass in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, in Leominster. Calling hours in the funeral home are this evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Please omit flowers. Donations in his memory can be made to the St. Cecilia’s Church Restoration Fund, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster 01453, or may be left at the funeral home.
