Anne Theresa (Pyne) Leavitt
formerly of Fitchburg, MA; 85

ARLINGTON, VA -- Anne Theresa (Pyne) Leavitt, 85, formerly of Fitchburg, MA, died peacefully in her home in Arlington, VA, on Wednesday, April 16th, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Pyne of Fitchburg, MA. She is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, David B. Leavitt of Arlington VA, her daughter, Dr. Kathleen Anne Leavitt and husband Dr. Johan Suyderhoud of Arlington VA, her daughter Maureen (Leavitt) Mullins and husband Tom Mullins of Andover, MA, her son Paul D. Leavitt of Reston, VA, and her son Michael J. Leavitt and Martina Driscoll of Arlington, VA; five grandchildren: Peter and Kase Suyderhoud of Arlington VA, and Maggie, Mary Jane, and Colleen Mullins of Andover, MA; her two sisters-in-law: Barbara J. Leavitt of Leominster, MA and Shirley (Sally) Leavitt of Oakridge, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her four sisters: Elizabeth (Pyne) Mackenzie, Frances M. Pyne, Margaret M. Pyne, Madeline (Pyne) Slarskey and her husband Leon R. Slarskey.

Anne was a graduate of St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg and relocated several times with her husband and four children to Lynchburg, VA, Schenectady and Utica, NY, and West Chester, PA. Throughout her life, she followed her calling to serve others, beginning with the Legion of Mary in Fitchburg, and later through her volunteer work with the Meals on Wheels organization, the Bethesda Project in Philadelphia, PA, the Mission of Santa Maria in Avondale, PA, and by serving as an Associate and as a Member of the Women's Chapter at Daylesford Abbey in Paoli, PA. She loved classical music and was a patron of the Philadelphia Orchestra for 26 years.

LEAVITT -- Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 22 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 23, at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 3304 Washington Blvd., Arlington VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Daylesford Abbey, 220 S. Valley Road, Paoli, PA 19301, or online at Daylesford.org.
