WESTMINSTER -- Leonard O. LeBlanc, Sr., 84, died Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the University of Massachusetts, Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, MA after a brief illness.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Louise (Royer) LeBlanc; one son, David F. and his wife, Hazel; one daughter, Tina Sheridan and her husband, Kevin, all of Westminster; five grandchildren, Jean Gray and her husband, Jeremy of CA, Nathan Salazar and his wife, Aileen of NC, Rebecca Leblanc of TX, Wayne Sicard, Jr., of Westminster, and Brian Sheridan of Worcester; three great-grandchildren, Katie Gray, Eric Gray, both of CA, and Aaron Salazar of NC; one brother, Charles LeBlanc of Townsend; and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his son, Leonard O. LeBlanc, Jr., who died on June 2, 1998, and his eight brothers and sisters.
Leonard was born in Fitchburg on August 30, 1928, a son of the late Freeman and Eliza (St. Pierre) LeBlanc. He was a graduate of St. Bernard's High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and remained in the US Navy for a total of 30 years, retiring on August 28, 1974.
He also worked as a paper maker at Crocker Burbank, Weyerhaeuser, and retired from James River Paper Co.
He was a member and past commander of the Westminster V.F.W., a member of the American Legion in Fitchburg, and a member and served past commander of the former DAV Chapter 30 in Fitchburg several times. He was also the past district commander of the DAV. He was also a member of NERA, and the UDT/Seals. Leonard enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, playing cribbage, and traveling with his wife.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
LeBLANC -- Funeral Services and Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made in Leonard's name to the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, 268 Central Street, Fitchburg, MA 01440.
