of Leominster, Marine Vet; 75

LEOMINSTER -- Adelard E. Vaillancourt, 75 years old, of Leominster, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, in the Highland, after an illness.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pauline D. (Duval) Vaillancourt; two sons, James P. Vaillancourt and Daniel R. Vaillancourt, both of Leominster; and his brother, Raymond Vaillancourt of Wilmington. He was predeceased by his sister, Lillian Tomkiewicz.

Adelard was born December 8, 1938 in New Bedford, son of Adelard and Lauretta (Pepin) Vaillancourt and had lived in Leominster for 32 years. He graduated from the former Monsignor Prevost High School in Fall River and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960, during his service he served as a French-English language interpreter in Morocco in North Africa. He worked as a quality control inspector at Atlantic Microwave Corp. in Bolton for 18 years, before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Leominster. He was very interested in stamp collecting and appreciation of opera music.
