FITCHBURG -- Armand Gallant, 85, of Fitchburg, died Sunday, Nov. 11, in his home after a long illness.
Armand was born on May 3, 1927 in Dorchester, a son of the late, Clovis and Elsie (Bastarache) Gallant.
He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Carpenter's Mate 3rd class.
Armand worked for Department of Public Works for the City of Fitchburg for 37 years, retiring in 1983.
He leaves his wife of 67 years, Lena (Cordio) Gallant of Fitchburg; a daughter, Linda LaPlante and her husband Victor of Fitchburg; two grandchildren, Michele LaBell and her husband Stephen and David LaPlante all of Fitchburg; three great-grandchildren, Cassandra LaBell, Alexander LaBell and Cailin LaPlante all of Fitchburg and several nephews and nieces.
His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Health Alliance Hospice Program and his caregivers, Miguel and Cheryl.
GALLANT -- The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Anthony di Padua Church, 84 Salem St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. A calling hour will be held prior to the funeral, on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Health Alliance Hospice, 25 Tucker Dr., Leominster, MA 01453.
