STERLING -- Barry M. Foss, 64 years old, of Sterling, died Monday, November 19, 2012, in Worcester surrounded by his family and loved ones
Barry is survived by his mother, Mildred Gray of Port St. Lucie, FL; his two daughters, Elizabeth Waldo, and her husband, Phillip of Rutland, and Christina Foss of Worcester; his loving companion, Marie Barras of Sterling; his former wife and close friend, Janet Foss DeLuca and her husband, Michael of Holden; his granddaughter, Addison Waldo of Rutland; several nieces; his two brothers, Richard and Robert Foss, both of Florida.

Barry was born September 20, 1948 in Leominster, son of Stanley and Mildred (O'Hearn) Foss and had lived in Sterling for the past 40 years. He graduated from Worcester Industrial Technical Institute and Chamberlain College in Boston, obtaining degrees in Opticianry and Business.

He owned and operated Foss Optical Corporation in Leominster for 42 years. His long and distinguished career included memberships to the Opticians Association of America, American Board of Opticianry, Refracting Opticians of America, Opticians Association of Massachusetts, Massachusetts Association of Registered Dispensing Opticians, National Contact Lens Association, New England Contact Lens Society, Leominster Sportsmen's Club, and the Massachusetts Trappers Association.

A man of many talents and interests, he enjoyed hunting on his land in West Virginia, fishing at his lakeside cottage in Maine, playing poker, building stone walls around his Sterling home, antiquing, farming, and construction.

FOSS -- The funeral will be held from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 with a funeral mass at 11:00 am in St. Leo's Church 128 Main Street, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 from 5-8 pm in the funeral home.
