LUNENBURG -- Betty Dudley Bonnallie, 78, of Lunenburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2012, at the Highlands Nursing Home. Betty was previously a resident of Wachusett Manor in Gardner. Her family is grateful for the excellent care she received in both places.
Betty was born on September 3, 1934, daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Jenkins) Dudley. She was a 1952 graduate of Fitchburg High School, and graduated from Burbank Hospital School of Nursing in 1956.
Betty loved being a nurse and enjoyed caring for those around her. She taught nursing at several locations including Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Leominster Hospital School of Nursing, and her alma mater, Burbank Hospital School of Nursing. While teaching at Burbank, Betty received her Master's Degree from Fitchburg State College and used her skills to develop a Multi-Media Learning Lab for the school. In addition, she held various nursing positions including evening Nursing Supervisor, Pediatric Nurse Manager and Rehab Nurse Manager, all at Burbank Hospital. Betty also developed nursing textbooks for Lippincott Publishers and traveled to other nursing schools to instruct their staffs.
In her spare time, Betty was fond of knitting, sewing, needlepoint, smocking, and stenciling, and always had a creative idea or a unique twist. She especially enjoyed making clothing for her grandchildren and other children whom she knew. Her energy and passion for life were contagious.
She leaves her loving husband of 52 years, Andrew M. Bonnallie II of Lunenburg; children, Robin Fisher and her husband, Eric, grandchildren, Danielle and Brian of McLean, Virginia, and Paul D. Bonnallie and his wife, Rosa, grandchildren, Nestor and Karla of Orlando, Florida; and several nieces and nephews whom she adored. She also leaves her caregiver of many years, Kirsten DeFelice.
Betty's brother, Frederick K. Dudley, predeceased her.
