Danielle Lynn Mallard
Former Fitchburg Recreation Dept. employee
FITCHBURG -- Danielle Lynn Mallard, age 31, passed peacefully in Worcester on June 12, after a short illness.
She was born in Leominster MA in 1982 to Sandra Jane (Cook) Allen and John Lawrence Mallard (deceased). She spent most of her life in Fitchburg, with only a brief period in Westminster MA. Danielle was a 2000 graduate of Fitchburg High School, and attended both Fitchburg State University and Mount Wachusett Community College, where she studied Psychology and Human Services.
She held many jobs, but it was her eight years as Recreation Supervisor for the Fitchburg Recreation Department, that she always referred to as her "dream" job. She loved to coordinate services for the children of Fitchburg at the city's parks and playgrounds, where she always placed the needs of the children before her own.
She had many great and devoted friends who described her as an independent thinker, outspoken, and passionate for the things she believed in. She always had a smile, and when she met someone, they never forgot her. Whether it was her beautiful red hair, or her friendly greetings, she left an impact on those she met, and the lives that she touched. She loved to wear her blue jeans and her many t-shirts that presented slogans, or various rock bands. She especially loved her jewelry, and was known for the many rings upon her fingers, her dangling earrings, and the bracelets on her wrists. She was a passionate writer of poetry and prose, and was a self-proclaimed rock n' roll historian, who could identify any musician or band just simply by listening to one, or two notes. She was devoted to her cat, Lucky, who she always referred to as her "son".
She is survived by her mother; her sister, Alisha Allen of Northampton, MA; her step-father, Ted Allen, Fitchburg, MA; her companion for the past eight years, Christopher Woods, Fitchburg, MA; her two grandmothers, Jennie Cook of Fitchburg and Priscilla Allen of Lunenburg; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
MALLARD -- A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Sunday, June 23rd, from 3 to 6 p.m., at The American Legion, 200 Daniels Street, Fitchburg, MA (978) 343-9750. Donations in Danielle's name should be made to the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, P.O. Box 142, Lunenburg, MA 01462. The Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
