DRYDEN, NY -- The Rev. David W. Dik, 78, of Dryden, NY peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 7, 2012. David was born on July 10, 1934 in Fitchburg, MA, to Gladys (Barker) and Harold T. Dik. Rev. Dik was committed to education and lifelong learning. He earned his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Massachusetts, attended Hartford Seminary, Hartford CT, Master's degree from Fitchburg State University, earned his PhD in Education from The Union Institute and University, and was ordained into the Ministry of Trinity Evangelical Church. He retired from a 33 year career at Cornell University as Assistant Director of Cooperative Extension, having started his career as a 4-H agent in Massachusetts. David was also a United Church of Christ and United Methodist minister and served a number of churches throughout New York State.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol (Roberts) Dik; sons and daughters-in-law, David A. Dik and Jill Simmons of Glen Ridge, NJ, Roger W. and Jan Dik of Boxford, MA; daughter and son-in-law Susan (Dik) and Frederick Greenthal of Alfred Station, NY; seven grandchildren, James and Andrew Dik, Sarah, Samuel and Michael Dik; William and Kirsten Greenthal; his brother Robert of Worcester, MA and sister and brother-in-law Diane (Dik) and James Matteson of Madison, CT and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald of San Diego, CA.
