FITCHBURG -- Donald W. Coleman, 66, a longtime Fitchburg resident, died Saturday, June 30, in the Hillcrest Nursing Home, after a long illness.
He leaves one son, Nicholas Coleman of Fitchburg; five brothers, Robert E. Coleman Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, of Ashburnham, Phillip D. Coleman and his wife, Janet, of Lancaster, Thomas L. Coleman and his wife, Dottie, of Methuen, Carl J. Coleman of Pepperell and Richard Coleman of Gardner; three sisters, Anna M. Coleman of Fitchburg, Mary R. Dugas of Westminster and Patricia Phelan in SC; and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Chandra Marie Coleman in 2009 and a brother, John H. Coleman in 2002.
Mr. Coleman was a Registered Nurse at the Glavin Center in Shrewsbury for many years.
He was a former member of St. Bernard's Parish and a current member of St. Anthony di Padua Parish in Fitchburg. He was a 1963 graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School and was a 1972 graduate of Fitchburg State College, earning a Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air force, serving from 1965 to 1968.
He was born in Fitchburg, on January 31, 1946, a son of the late Robert E., and Anna M. Coleman.
COLEMAN -- His Funeral will be celebrated on Friday, July 6, from The Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, with a Mass at Noon in St. Anthony di Padua Church, 87 Salem St., Fitchburg.
Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg.
