WESTMINSTER -- Edward W. Foster, 75, passed away Monday, December 3rd 2012 at Health Alliance Leominster Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Dudding) Piper Foster who passed away in 2006.
He leaves his Son, Jeffery Foster and his wife Cindy Ann of Fitchburg, his Daughter Tammy Lynn Mitchell and her husband Randy of North Newton, KS, his Step-son Donald E. Piper of Gardner, his Step-daughter Lynnette Simoneau of Ashburnham, seven grandchildren Gregory Foster, twins, Ashley Foster and Samantha Foster, all of Fitchburg, Joshua Mitchell and Brandon Mitchell both of Indiana, and Todd Foster and Amanda Foster both of FL, several Step-grandchildren, his loving partner Eunice Arcangeli of Westminster, his twin brother Ernest W. Foster, his sister Elaine E. Foster both of Worcester and his first wife Marylyn J. Foster of VT.
He is also predeceased by his youngest son Christopher Foster who passed away in 2002 and a step-son Clifford Piper, who passed away in 2004.
Ed was born in Ipswich, on March 12, 1937, the son of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Dubuc) Foster. He grew up in Worcester and graduated from North High School, Worcester, MA. In1955. Ed was a member of the Boy Scouts, Troop # 67 and was awarded the Eagle Scout Honor in 1952. He went on to study at Norwich University in VT, where he received a bachelor Degree in Engineering. Soon after graduating, Ed joined the United States Army Reserve where he served and retired after more than 20 years as a Lieutenant Colonel. He later worked at Digital Cooperation in Quality Control.
Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and the piano. He had a small engine repair business, and was a very patriotic man. Ed was a man who gave freely of himself. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Westminster, where he would help out with anything that needed to be done. He especially loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and his dog Aaron.
FOSTER -- Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Westminster, 138 Main Street, Westminster, MA 01473.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Woodside Cemetery, 9 Narrows Road, Westminster, MA 01473.
Calling Hours will be on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. -- 8:00 p.m. in the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Westminster, MA 01473.
