Longtime St. Bernard Parish member

FITCHBURG -- Ellen M. (Schultz) Quirk 86, passed away November 4, 2012 after a short illness. She was the wife of the late John T. "Skeeball" Quirk.

She leaves her children, Barbara Ljunggren and her husband, Paul of North Haven, CT, Deborah Courtney and her husband, Austin of Fitchburg, Carolyn Quirk and Steven Hachey of Fitchburg, John Quirk and his wife, Julie of Fitchburg, six grandchildren, Christian, Jillian, Tiffany, Nicholas, Kimberly and Liam, two brothers, Bernard Schultz Jr., C. Richard Schultz both of Fitchburg, one sister, Ann Bywaters of FL, and many other extended family members.

She is predeceased by Edward Schultz, John Quirk, Robert Quirk and Misty Quirk.

She was born in Lunenburg, on September 16, 1926 a daughter of the late Bernard and Catherine (Kennedy) Schultz. She is a 1944 Graduate of St. Bernard Central Catholic High School.

Ellen enjoyed gardening and was a part-time antique dealer. She also loved the Red Sox and was a member of the St. Bernard High School class reunion committee for many years.

Ellen will be remembered for her kind and gentle manner; she always saw the good in people and never had a bad thing to say about anyone.

QUIRK -- The Funeral will be held from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water Street, Fitchburg, MA, with a Mass at 12:00 Noon on Friday, November 9, 2012 in the St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Burial will follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery, off St. Bernard Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Calling Hours will be on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 5:00 -- 8:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
