FITCHBURG -- Frances M. (Gaudet) Godin 76, of Fitchburg passed away on May 6, 2014 at the Highlands surrounded by her loving children.
She was born on June 18, 1937 in Fitchburg, MA., the daughter of Rudolph and Lillian (Marell) Gaudet and lived in Fitchburg, MA. all of her life. She worked as a stitcher for many years at the former Asher Pants, and Cluet & Peabody and then for Bay State curtain for nine years. She retired in 1998.
Frances enjoyed family gatherings and was a dedicated single mom who taught her children the importance of family and hard work. Throughout her two years of struggle with chronic pulmonary disease, she exhibited a great deal of strength. She was the best mother we could ever have hoped for.
She is survived by her children, Michael L. Godin and his wife Angela of Ashby, MA., Michelle F. Fontaine and her husband Neil of Leominster, MA., and Melissa A. Thibeault and her husband Arthur of Lunenburg, MA., her grandchildren, Tyler, Lauren, Jayson, Aiden, Dylan, Kacy, Kody, Drew, and Madison. She also leaves her sister Irene Giardella of Lynn, MA. and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Barry of Fitchburg, MA.
GODIN -- A funeral Mass will be held on Friday May 16, 2014 at 11a.m. in St. Bernard Parish @ St. Camillus De Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg. Inurnment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Fitchburg/ Leominster, 365 Lindell Ave., Leominster, MA. 01453
