FITCHBURG -- Fred C. Saball 78, of Fitchburg died peacefully in his home on Saturday, January 27, 2013.

Fred was born in Pepperell on May 13, 1934, a son of the late Fred C. Saball and Cora (Tripp). He worked for Ranor Corp. for many years. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing, golf, and was a wonderful piano player.

He is survived by his wife of 56 yrs. Sherry (Therrien), Daughters Hollie McGrath of Fitchburg, Kathy Saball of Shirley, Cindy Panagiotes of Fitchburg; Sons Steven Saball and wife Susan of Leominster and Gary Saball of Shirley, Son in Laws Ron McGrath of Shirley, Stan DeCoste of Lancaster and Dave Panagiotes of N.H. He is also survived by 3 Grandsons and 4 Granddaughters, Brothers George Saball and wife Helen of Fitchburg, James Saball of Fitchburg, Sisters Rita Morrisey and husband Marty of Townsend, Christine Page of Fitchburg and Della Breault and husband Vic of CA. Along with many nieces and nephews.

He was Predeceased by his Infant Granddaughter Trisha Saball in 1989 and Daughter Sherrie DeCoste in 2000; his Brothers Anson of Shirley, Joseph of Groton, Francis of Ashby ,Wallace of Townsend, and Sister Sylvia Elliot.

His greatest passion though was in the sport of Trap Shooting. He was a Lifetime member of the ATA, MATA and NRA as well as a member of the Fitchburg Sporting (Swallow Hill) Club and N. Leominster Rod & Gun Club. He Won the Eastern Zone SR. Vet Championship in Cicero, N.Y. 2012 as well as many others over his shooting career of over 40 years. He also devoted a lot of his time to the teaching of the sport, instructing many in Youth Trapshooting Programs & Women On Target. In 2008 he received Special Citations from the Massachusetts House of Representatives., Massachusetts State Senate, Worcester County Sheriff's Office & Mayor Lisa Wong of Fitchburg for his dedication to the Instruction of the Sport of Trapshooting and Firearms Safety. He will be sorely missed by many.

SABALL -- Calling hours have been postponed to Saturday, February 16, 2013, from 4:00-6:00 P.M. in the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd.
