Harold Bradbury Obituary

Harold M. Bradbury of Pepperell; 88 PEPPERELL Harold Milton Bradbury, Jr., 88, of South Road, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the home of his son in Pepperell after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, H. Valerie (Thorne) Bradbury; four sons, Harold M. Bradbury III of Oxford, Maine, R. Scott and Shirley Bradbury, of Pepperell, Kurt D. and Kim Bradbury of Auburn, John K. and Patricia Bradbury of Danielson, CT; three daughters Gail A. and Ronald Harmon of Orleans, MA, Suzanne and Fred McDonald of Laconia, NH, V. Lisa and Peter DiPasquale of Pepperell. He leaves 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Doris E. Washburn of Mattapoiset, MA and Ada C. Bean of Cambridge, MA. Mr. Bradbury was born in Cambridge, September 5, 1920, the son of Harold M. and Janet B. (Corcoran) Bradbury and has resided in Pepperell for over 55 years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a graduate of Rindge Technical High School in Cambridge. He continued his education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Wildlife Management. He later received a Masters degree from Fitchburg State College and took additional courses at Northeastern University, Boston. During WW II Mr. Bradbury served his country in the United States Navy. On December 8, 1941, he enlisted in the armed services and was stationed in the Pacific and assigned to the San Juan. Later he attended Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio for OCS training. Mr. Bradbury began a fulfilling career in education in 1962 as a math teacher at North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend. He later became the Assistant Principal and then Associate Principal before retiring in 1982. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Pepperell where he was a member and past president of its Holy Name Society. He had also served on the Pepperell Planning Board. He was a founding member of the Paugus Rod and Gun Club. Harold was active in the Pepperell Grange. BRADBURY A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday July 24th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Tarbell Street, Pepperell. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Nashoba Nursing Service and Hospice, 2 Shaker Road, Ste D225, Shirley, MA 01464 or to Our Lady of Grace Building Fund, 28 Tarbell Street, Pepperell, MA 01463 The T.J. To all of you who have expressed your condolences, Thank you from all of dad's family. Dad gave himself to helping students and parents for over 30 years. It was said more than once that dad put the person first and the student second, doing so it helped him strive to be fair. A goal he always tryed to keep.

Scott, John and the rest of the Bradbury family. So sorry to hear about your Dad. I havn't seen him for several years but he is in his 40's in my mind's eye. Always a Gentleman.

I was sorry to read about Harold's death in the obituaries of the Lowell Sun. I will remember him at Mass and pray for Val and the family.
I have fond memories of both of them from my days in Pepperell.
