Jeffrey Merrill Nolen; 59

WESTMINSTER, MA and RED BANK, NJ -- Jeffrey Merrill Nolen, 59, of Lakewood Park, Westminster, MA, and Red Bank, NJ, died Friday, July 12, 2013, in UMass Memorial, Worcester, following a short illness.

Jeff was born on April 19, 1954, to the late John and Betty (Merrill) Nolen. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Richmond, where he met his wife, and earned his Juris Doctor from Western New England University in 1979. He was an Attorney and the President of Central Lawyers Service, Inc., in Freehold, NJ.

Jeff had a love of vintage cars, model trains, hunting, history, and online gaming. He was passionate about giving back to his community; volunteering to send care packages to deployed troops, coaching Pop Warner football, and helping to organize charity car shows with his car club, the "Movin' On Cruisers".

He loved Lakewood Park in Westminster, MA, where his family has had a camp for more than 100 years. He took great pride in their camp, which he had rebuilt using material from the original structure, retaining the personality of the old camp. He loved spending time there with his family, and the life-long friends that were more like family.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of almost 36 years, Sheila (Grizzard) Nolen; his mother, Betty Nolen; his sons, Jeremy Merrill Nolen, and his wife, Alycia of Bayville, NJ, and John William Nolen III, and his fiancé, Laura Hanratty of Springfield, MA; his granddaughter, Vivianne Nolen; one aunt, Rachel Witt of KS; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended friends and family who will miss him dearly.

NOLEN -- His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 22, at 11:30 A.M., with calling hours preceding the Funeral from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. in the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Westminster. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Operation Second Chance, OSC, P.O. Box 461, Clarksburg, MD 20871. www.operationsecondchance.org.
