Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother

FITCHBURG -- Joan A. (Phelps) Selin, 71, died Saturday, February 9, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness.

She leaves her loving husband of over 50 years, Peter A. Selin; three children, Peter A. Selin Jr. of Fitchburg, Sandra J. (Selin) Herndon, and her husband, Gerry, of Ashburnham, and Michael W. Selin, and his wife, Kelly, of Fitchburg. Joan will also be missed by her grandchildren, Joseph Herndon, Katherine Herndon, and Julia Herndon, all of Ashburnham, and Stephanie Selin, Michael Selin, Rebecca Selin and Sarah Selin, all of Fitchburg; Her four brothers, William Phelps of Leominster, Ralph Phelps Jr., and his wife, Rhonda of Lunenburg, Lawrence Hier, and his wife, Mariann, of Ashby, Randall Hier, and his wife, Linda, of Lunenburg, and many nieces and nephews.

Joan was born in Fitchburg, on November 22, 1941, the daughter of the late Ralph and Anna (Quinn) Phelps. In addition she is predeceased by her step-mother, who also raised her, Barbara (Whitney) Phelps, and a sister-in-law Jane Phelps who died in 2003. Joan was a 1959 Graduate of Fitchburg High School. She worked for the Hedstrom Union, Fitchburg Gas & Electric, Fitzgerald's Apple Farm, and also for the Sulin Apple Orchard.

SELIN -- Funeral Services and Burial will be private.

The Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Mass Avenue, Lunenburg, MA 01462 is assisting the Family with Funeral Arrangements.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made in Joan's name to the , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
