John C. Hoye, 92
of Ashburnham, MA.

ASHBURNHAM, MA -- John C. Hoye, 92, died Tuesday January 8, at the Coral Bay Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in West Palm Beach, Florida after an illness.

John was born in Louisville, Ky. May 11, 1920, the son of James and Loretta (Fitzgibbons) Hoye. He moved to Fitchburg at an early age and graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1939 and Fitchburg Teachers College now Fitchburg State University in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

John was employed for forty years as a salesman for the Proctor and Gamble Company. John served two terms as a selectman in Ashburnham and also served as president of the Ashburnham Historical Society. John served as chairman of the Ashburnham bicentennial committee in 1965 and was instrumental in the restoration of the powderhouse off Cushing Street.

He also headed the committee to restore the Dolly Whitney Adams School which now houses the library. John was a former member of St. Denis Chuch and was a member of the choir.

John leaves his sons, John S. "Steve" Hoye of Lake Worth, FL. with whom he was living and Thomas M. Hoye of Falmouth. John's wife of 63 years, Marion Amy (Otto) Hoye died October 26, 2007. John's brother James "Jimmy" Hoye and his sister Helen Otto also predeceased him.

HOYE -- Following cremation, services with military honors will take place at Meeting House Hill Cemetery in Ashburnham in the Spring.
