John E. Reilly
of Ashburnham; 78

ASHBURNHAM -- John E. Reilly, 78, of Ashburnham passed away on December 29, 2012 at Heywood Memorial Hospital in Gardner, after a courageous battle with diabetes and heart disease surrounded by his family.

John was born on June 22, 1934 in Providence, RI, son of the late Sylvester L. and Alma M. Reilly. He leaves his wife Gail M. (Wilson) Reilly, two daughters, Karen Balukonis of Shrewsbury MA., Maureen M. Munson and her husband Tom of Enfield, CT. and a son John M. Reilly and his wife Lee of Annapolis, MD. John leaves six grandchildren, Kelly and Andrew Munson, Lauren, Jack and Addison Reilly and Lindsey Balukonis.

John graduated from LaSalle Academy of Providence, RI. in 1952, and from Providence College, Providence, RI. in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1957 to 1959. John was a Store Manager for the W.T. Grant Company for many years, managing stores in New Hampshire, Maine and Gardner MA. He was then a Manager for Pandiscio Realtors of Fitchburg, MA. John and his wife Gail owned and operated the Extra Touch Shoppe, a Hallmark Card and Gift store in Gardner, MA. from 1984 to 1992. John then worked as a Real Estate appraiser and with Morin Real Estate in Winchendon, MA. and was a past member of the Northern Worcester Board of Realtors. After his retirement, John worked part-time for Experience Works at the Gardner Career Center as a senior specialist, and most recently at the Senior Center in Ashburnham, MA.

John was a member of St. Denis Church in Ashburnham where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a former member of the Parish Council. REILLY -- Relatives and friends are planning to honor and celebrate John's life by gathering for calling hours in the Lamoureux Fletcher and Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner on Thursday January 3, 2013 from 5-8PM. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday January 4, 2013 in St. Denis Church, 85 Main St., Ashburnham, beginning at 11AM. Rev. John E. Horgan will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery in the spring.
