Marcel Eugene 'Pete' Remy Retired Leominster firefighter, WWll Vet; 87 -- VERO BEACH, Florida -- Marcel "Pete" Remy, 87, of Vero Beach, Florida, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at VNA Hospice House. He was born January 25, 1926 at Leominster, Massachusetts and had been a resident of the Treasure Coast for 30 years, coming from Massachusetts. Mr. Remy was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during WWII. He retired from the Leominster Fire Department in 1981 after 24 years of service. Mr. Remy was a member of the American Legion Post #3918 and the IAFF Local 1841. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jackie Remy; daughters, Linda Remy, Donna Richards, and Brenda Shakely, all of Vero Beach; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, George "Duke" Remy, Charles Remy, Doria "Titu" Remy, and Laval "Jim" Remy, and two sisters, Rita DeCarolis and Paulette Scoggins. REMY -- A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., July 17, 2013 at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA.
