BERLIN -- Mary Frances (Driscoll) Mullahy, 98, of Berlin, and formerly of Fitchburg, MA, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 16, 2012, at home.

She was born on June 11, 1913 in Fitchburg, MA, the daughter of Corneilius and Julia (Shea) Driscoll, and lived her life in Fitchburg, MA, before moving to live with her son, John Mullahy and his wife, Paula Frechette of Berlin, MA in 2008.

Mary attended and graduated from St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School the Class of 1930.

She then went on to work as a secretary for the International Union of Electrical and Machine workers at General Electric Co., in Fitchburg, MA for 25 years retiring in 1978. In 1996, she received the Woman of the Year Achievement Award by the Association of Business and Professional Women.

As a longtime volunteer of the Fitchburg Senior Center, Mary received the Volunteer Excellence Award from the Senior Center for her many years of volunteering at the many events held at the center such as bingo, and selling tickets at Senior events. She also volunteered at St. Bernard's Church helping with collections at Sunday Mass for over 30 years. She was a member of The Association of Business and Professional Women, The Fitchburg Council on Aging, The Daughters of Isabella, The Holy Family League of Charity, The Booster Club, The Retired Women's Club, and The Golden Age Club, all in Fitchburg, MA.

She is survived by her children, Thomas Mullahy and his wife, Bonnie of South Hadley, MA, Mary and her husband, Michael Bourque of Fitchburg, MA, Bernard Mullahy and his wife, Fran of Palm Desert, California, and John Mullahy and his wife, Paula Frechette of Berlin, MA; her sisters, Rita Driscoll of Fitchburg, MA, and Margaret Testarmata of West Boylston, MA; her brothers, John Driscoll of Phoenix, Arizona, and Neil Driscoll of Lynn, MA; seven grandchildren, Kristine Bassett, Karen Harrington, Dianne Nowd, Kelly Mullahy, Kerry Ouimett, Mackenzie Evers, and Ryan Mullahy, nine great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Thomas J. Mullahy in 1970, two brothers, Bernard Driscoll and Edward Driscoll, and five sisters, Madeline Driscoll, Nora Walsh, Eileen Pernokas, Pauline Thomas, and Catherine Turcotte.

MULLAHY -- The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 with a Mass at 11a.m. in St. Bernard Parish @ St. Camilllus De Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg, MA. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
