FITCHBURG -- Nita May Espie Smith, passed away surrounded by loved ones on November 16, 2012.
She was born on December 25, 1929, and lived a lifetime in Fitchburg, MA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Smith.
She was a loving mother and is survived by her children, Sue Wiseheart of Waltham, Kevin Reynolds of Acton, Kurt Reynolds of Boston, Maggie Reynolds Hart of Spencer, and John Reynolds of Fitchburg; and her dear friend and companion, Mike Blackwell of Fitchburg.
She will be missed by her grandchildren, Emily and Jane Wiseheart, Paige and Collin Hart, and Sean, Jack and Molly Reynolds.
Nita was an accomplished Artist, belonging to the Sumi Society of Chinese Brush painting. She exhibited her paintings both locally and regionally.
For 40 years, she worked in the field of human services as a social worker, case manager, and also as a licensed practical nurse at Burbank Hospital.
Nita enjoyed a large, loyal network of friends, neighbors, and co-workers. She always had a deep affection for her hometown of Fitchburg.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Montachusett Home Care and very special thanks to dear friends, Nancy and Dennis Halligan for their devotion and care.
SMITH -- Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 from 5 until 7 pm, with a Memorial service held at 6:00 pm in the Aubuchon-Moorcroft Funeral Home, 132 Woodland St., Fitchburg.
